Despite the losses the key index remained afloat of the 1,600 psychological level, which is providing safety for investors.There was also some positive price action in financial counters as global bond yields continued to rise.Maybank was up two sen to RM8.42, Public Bank rose two sen to RM4.30, Hong Leong Bank added two sen to RM18.82 and CIMB was unchanged at RM4.46.Glove counters however were the laggards as the finding of forced labour by the US Customs and Border Protection on Top Glove weighed on the entire sector.Top Glove dropped another 13 sen to RM4.65 while sector peer Hartalega fell 17 sen to RM9.19. Supermax lost four sen to RM3.93 and Kossan Rubber slid six sen to RM3.25.Among *** aller rivals, Comfort Gloves dipped two sen to RM1.89 and Careplus shed three sen to RM1.28.Malacca Securities Research expects the FBM KLCI to trend sideways over the near term although ivnestors could remain interested in some sectors."We believe investors may focus on counters with more stability suh as consumer, utilities and REITs,"Also with the subsiding Covid-19 cases daily, we mau anticipate the recovery-theme to bode well under this scenario," it said.It added that some trading interest might emerge in technology stocks given the chip crunch situation resulting from US-China tensions.Of actives on Bursa Malaysia, Berjaya Corp added 1.5 sen to 41 sen, AT Sytemization dropped one sen to 9.5 sen and Tawin rose 0.5 sen to 43.5 sen.
